ProjectMax is a specialist water infrastructure consultancy based in Takapuna, Auckland. Since 2002 we’ve worked with asset owners, water utilities and contractors across New Zealand and Australia on pipeline condition assessment, renewal planning and asset management.
We authored the New Zealand Gravity Pipe Inspection Manual for Water New Zealand, and more recently the Pressure Pipe Inspection Manual, both world-first industry guidelines.

Our team
Ian Garside is a water asset management specialist and joint owner and director of ProjectMax. A Life Member of Water New Zealand and former Technical Committee Chair, he works with utilities across the country to support informed, risk-based investment decisions and improved asset performance.
Steven Apeldoorn is a recognised industry leader in pipeline inspection and asset condition assessment. He authored the New Zealand Gravity Pipe Inspection Manuals and the Pressure Pipe Inspection Manual, both world-first industry guidelines. With more than 30 years in wastewater and stormwater infrastructure, he supports utilities to understand, manage and optimise their networks.
Robert Blakemore is regarded as one of New Zealand’s key figures in water infrastructure and service planning, with more than four decades in the sector. A former President of Water New Zealand and Chief Advisor of Service Planning at Wellington Water, his career combines technical excellence, strategic leadership and sector-wide influence.
Aaron Prince is a Chartered Engineer and experienced water infrastructure professional with a strong focus on delivery and asset management. With international experience across New Zealand and Sweden, he supports utilities to plan, procure and deliver effective and efficient infrastructure programmes.
Eric Skowron is a strategic and delivery-focused practitioner in the water sector. His work combines technical expertise, programme leadership and industry development, supporting utilities to improve their understanding of asset condition, make informed investment decisions and build future-ready infrastructure.
